One of the issues with some of the hardware made in the 1960s is the quality. Often the designs were very appealing and modern but getting there with manufacturing wasn’t. Manufacturers started using cheaper material (often zinc and cheaper brass alloys) and methods of casting. It is so interesting to see how a 1920’s part was machined vs a 1960’s part. We see the same things happening now with Chinese and Indian hardware. Price and the internet have really driven hardware manufacturers (not all) to fight to the bottom.
Here is a great example of a re-spun 1960’s inspired piece. Everything here is custom machined to fine tolerances – finishing is all done by hand. We can alter finish of the knob and pull inserts as well!
