custom curtain rod detail

Posted on 30th June, by gbettenhausen in Recent Projects. No Comments

This end cap detail is a finial for a curtain rod that will have a wood octopus carved to fit on top of the captioned tentacles. Working on such a low volume highly detailed project like this really stretches the imagination and skill requirement.

Here are a couple more photos of the hinges we are machining.  The barrel will have a integrated bearing to allow a smooth operation.  Pins will be stainless steel for both strength and corrosion resistance.

The evidence of fine detail work is shown here as our sculptor finishes up this ribbon and reed pull.  We will have molds made of this actual sculpt (which means more photos to come later!).

palmetta knobs | polished nickel

These polished nickel knobs will end up living on the doors in a home just outside of St. Louis.  Interior hardware and exterior hardware was all fabricated and finished by our craftspeople in Wilmette.

polished nickel light

This is a little off subject but…This movie set light was totally nickel plated by our craftsman in Wilmette.  The amount of effort and detail here was really tremendous.  It is rewarding to do a really involved restoration and see such great results.

Take a look at the mold in the background of this photo.  These levers were cast using the lost wax method of casting (or investment casting).  Soon install photos will be coming….

These gropious pulls have been manufactured (but not yet finished) for two projects – one in northern Michigan and one right here in Chicago.  We have a complete selection of gropious hardware pieces as well as conceptual renderings of hardware that compliments this suite of hardware.

drop pull brass

This drop pull was provided for a local home.  These work very well on tight situations or even harmon pocketing doors.  A very traditional piece of hardware.
