lever re-cast for a benjiman marshall building in chicago

Posted on April 8th, by gbettenhausen in Recent Projects. No Comments

This lever has had the detail re-applied to it prior to making a mold for investment casting.  This method of sculpting over the lever allows as much detail as possible to be reintegrated into the hardware.  There typically is a 4% +/- shrinkage associated with this process.  Sometimes it is actually necessary to re-sculpt the entire part to match the original size.

Here are a couple photos of some of our raw brass cabinet hardware prior to sending to the finishing room.  The knobs on the right will be hand hammered prior to the final finishing process.

gropious lever on pre-bored door

This is an installation we performed with our Gropious lever on pre-bored doors in Lake Forest, Illinois.  The levers and rosettes are all machined (not cast) from solid brass and were finished in a stain nickel.  All of our hardware comes prepared and packaged by opening.

ice box hinge & latch | burnished nickel

These pieces of hardware were finished in a soft burnished nickel and installed on a subzero appliance panel.  The latch was actually fabricated as a dummy, although most of the time they are active for either a pantry or cabinet install.
