silver butt hinges
Here is the balance of the silver plated hinges from a post about 2 weeks ago. Often architects would use silver plated hardware in formal areas of homes (living rooms, dining rooms, parlors, morning rooms, etc.) We have done our best at bringing a revival to this great traditional habit of old.
iron rim lock
This great old rim lock will be reproduced for a project we are working on in Maryland. Many of the old rim locks or ‘carpenters’ locks were made of iron and had hollow solid brass knobs. Sometimes the locks were non-handed or reversible.
custom exterior gas lantern
This great exterior lantern was fabricated out of solid copper and installed on a local home. We finished the lantern in a dark hand rubbed copper patina.
6 x 6 ball bearing hinges | solid brass
These full bearing six by six hinges will be installed on a Benjamin Marshall building in Chicago, Illinois. We are working on finishing the existing hardware as well as fabricating missing hardware. The entrance hardware will all be integrated with a low voltage system using our electrified custom locks.
finish hardware being packaged

This hardware is for an installation in Highland Park, Illinois and contains solid bronze and polished nickel plated hardware. Our client was directly involved with all selections (finishes, lock function, hinge types, etc). It is important on a complicated/involved hardware schedule to get started with your hardware vendor as early in a project as possible.
silver hinges
Here are some of the hinges with over sized traditional ball finials for the screws on the last post.
Ever wonder why the finials on the newer stock hinges are so small? Cost. The cost of doing a traditional ball finial because of the diameter of the bar stock required is about double of making a shorter and smaller diameter finial. Check some of our previous entries to see how finished a true butt hinge looks installed (we will make a hardware snob out of you yet)!
silver plated screws
Have you ever wondered how we silver plate screws? Most likely not…
These screws were silver plated for hinges – believe it or not there were over 6000 screws for the hardware on this job. Sometimes it is amazing to us how many individual pieces and parts (just from a hardware perspective) go into a project.
gropious levers | satin nickel finish
These gropious levers were fabricated by for a project in Lake Forest, Illinois. They were made to accommodate pre-bored doors as well as exterior doors by Marvin Windows. Check for more photos on this project coming soon!
polished nickel cabinet hardware
These pulls and hinge blocks were just completed for a project. The name of the pull is ‘george’ and is available at wilmettehardware.com. The backplate and knob are available in any finish and are just cool, cool, cool.

cremone bolt hardware | silver finish
These doors in our shop in Wilmette have new olive knuckle hinges with our David Adler reproduction cremone bolts on them. The finish is silver that has been waxed (we are such fans of silver plated hardware) and will develop a warm patina over time.
custom cabinet knobs | burnished antique nickel
These cabinet knobs were made for the perimeter of a kitchen in the Chicago area. The knobs were fabricated from a pattern that was originally in the Potter Palmer Mansion on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago. There are several other pieces of hardware that we fabricate from the original hardware salvaged before the mansion was razed.
