polished nickel plumbing hardware (plating)

This is a great little detail that was completed in polished nickel.  Sort of an old school look with the exposed shut offs for the sink.

oil rubbed bronze plating door hardware

Here is a set of entry hardware we just completed for a project.  Note the detail of the finishing work.   We keep your hardware separated ‘by door’ which makes your general contractors life much easier.  We also provide all new slotted fasteners (including custom #11 screws for hinges).

This is a photo of our simple yorktown exterior set available in any finish. This set is cast using the lost wax method (allowing us to get the highest level of detail possible).

appliance pull | custom idea pcs

Here are a couple of really great pieces of salvage hardware that we are using as conceptual parts for some new cabinet pulls and appliance pulls.  The drop ring will include a machined brass trim piece to prevent the pull from denting the cabinetry.

it starts with a design concept

Often new hardware begins with a sketch.  We encourage architects to use a sketch book just for the hardware drawings they generate.  This is a lost art today.  Much of our hardware lacks thought and is very pedestrian.  Give some thought to your work – get out there and look at old hardware (use a blog like this!).

brass casement fasteners

Posted on 20th July, by gbettenhausen in Recent Projects. No Comments

Sometimes old homes have a significant portion of the original hardware missing.  This was the case on this north shore home.  We fabricated these casement fasteners to match the originals down to the steel rivet in the center. The only difference is ours has a bushing to make the action a bit smoother.

custom metal work in nickel

This table stringer was fabricated in brass and fitted together to create a seamless table stringer.  The mounting hardware is all concealed and clean looking.  The finish is a great example of our burnished nickel (all of our finishing and plating is done in house).

Here is an installed set of full mortise unlacquered brass hardware.  This is the demiluna knob (part of the Versaci Classic Editions collection of hardware).

oil rubbed bronze hardware restoration

These hinges are actually 6″ x 9″ and were re-plated/finished in oil rubbed bronze.  We will be fabricating some additional hinges for this project using the lost wax casting method.  Also, new levers are in the process of being sculpted prior to the fabrication of molds and finish hardware.  Watch for more photos in progress on this great project.

silver plated fire place tools

This is slightly off subject. However, these fireplace tools were re-silver plated by our shop recently.  The casting quality and final finish was absolutly fabulous.  It is not often that we see silver plated fire place hardware.  Be sure to check our more of our general restoration projects at www.allenandbaron.com.

project delivery | door hardware

Here is the hardware for a project we delivered about 2 weeks ago.  We typically package your hardware by door and location.  On larger projects we include a service and install kit as well.

side entry door (pre restoration)

Here is a great pre-restoration photo of a side entry door on a David Adler home.  Note how the second dead both is ‘flush’ with the door.  This was performed with the use of a dead lock which is much more secure than a deadbolt that we see pre-bored today.
