silver plated 4 1/2″ butt hinges
These hinges are for a Howard VanDoren Shaw home in Lake Forest, Illinois. Note the custom screw pattern (unavailable on today’s hinges) that was used to replicated hinges from the period. The finished hinges were all hand waxed after being silver plated. Often silver was used on some of our fine country homes in more formal living spaces. Fine attention to detail is always a priority for us when completing hardware for a project in Wilmette.
window lifts | silver plated & waxed
Yes these traditional simple window lifts are in fact silver plated (and hand waxed). We have lost something in today’s hardware schedule - attention to detail and quality. Much of the hardware in formal spaces of both country homes and apartments would have been silver plated (some even gold plated). This homes formal spaces are all silver plated and the bathrooms, kitchen, mudroom, etc are all polished nickel.
silver door knobs | howard van doren shaw home
These silver gems were made for a restoration project on a Howard Van Doren Shaw home in Lake Forest, Illinois. Our work on these projects is critical to the overall scope of both a quality and accurate restoration. Shaw was one of the great true American architects and completed many homes in both Chicago and Chicago’s north shore. Shaw also did the original Goodman Theatre (now the new modern wing of the Chicago Art Meuseum).
door bell intercom | solid brass
This solid brass intercom entry plate incorporates a swivel plate for a key access. This was fabricated for a home in North Carolina. All components are solid brass and polished brass un-lacquered.

hardware prep for plating | lake forest
This is a hardware package for a home that is being restored in Lake Forest, Illinois. The hardware details include: floor stops, jib pulls, narrow back-set locks, reproduction David Adler levers and much more. The finishes (all completed in our shop) are silver, nickel and un-lacquered brass. Visit soon to see the completed hardware.

Often salvage hardware is incorporated into a new door schedule/project. We have the ability to restore/polish and re-plate these knobs right in our shop in Wilmette. These beauties were completed for a client in New York.
exterior multipoint custom hardware project
These plates captioned here are for exterior doors on a project we are wrapping up in Georgia. The corner pieces were hand sculpted by our sculptor and cast in solid bronze before being attached (over 400 of them) to each corner of the plate. Our staff here then finished them in a highlighted bronze that coordinates with all the house hardware.

These great shelf brackets were fabricated for a kitchen in Chicago, Illinois to hold a shelf for cook books. They were fabricated from steel to support the weight requirements and then finished by our folks here in a high polished nickel.

The captioned window hardware here is finished in burnished nickel. We provide all new slotted fasteners (finished to match). This hardware is part of an apartment restoration in Chicago, Illinois.

This salvage exterior hardware was fit with a new exterior mortise case for a local home and finished in a very traditional polished brass. All the hardware in this home has been restored and maintained by our staff.

This floor stop was made as a part of the deming suite of hardware and has been finished here is a soft bronze finish. There are also cabinet pulls, door knobs, drawer pulls, exterior hardware and more in this suite of hardware.

polished nickel cabinet pulls | knurled detail
These polished nickel cabinet and drawer pulls were turned from solid brass and knurled with a fine rope detail. They will be installed in a kitchen in central Illinois. There are also cabinet knobs and appliance handles that coordinate with these pulls.

Here is a photo of a custom exterior french door set that was fabricated for new Pella doors in Chicago. The hardware is all solid cast bronze (photos of sculpts and sketches can be seen in previous entries). We do several of our hardware suites in multi-point sets.
