custom bronze refrigerator pulls
Sometimes the standard hardware that is available for thermador and subzero refrigerators leaves a lot to be desired.? We have come up with some fine examples of pulls and handles to compliment various tastes.? Our current most popular finish is polished nickel (bronze is photographed above).? Nickel is a timeless finish that is extremely clean and warm.
Hardware Molds
These are some molds we have for our lost wax casting process.? These molds must be kept in a climate controlled environment to protect them.
Yale & Towne Bronze Hinge
This is a cast bronze hinge from the 1890’s.? Note the taper on the hinge and the stamped numbers on the top.? Much of the time when one locates these the knuckles are very worn because of the copper content in the bronze & years of W&T (wear and tear).
Most hinges today (the nice ones at least) such as Von Morris are extruded and the knuckles are then machined by CNC.? Most pins today are also stainless steel and ‘pinched’ at the top so that your painter can remove the finials without removing the door while painting.
Entry Hardware Late 1890’s
This is a fine entry set from a home on the North Shore.? Always be sure that you don’t let your painter use a harsh wire wheel to clean your hardware.? A close look shows much of the detail was removed by an inexperienced polisher.
hardware shot
This is and example of some of the hardware on display in our showroom.? It is always interesting to see the fascination that individuals have on touching and feeling the hardware.? It constantly reminds us the of the importance of final finishing and quality.?
prototype hardware custom flush pulls
The original pull dates to 1890 and was made by Yale & Towne a premier hardware manufacturer back ‘in the day.’? We will be using these resin models to make hardware for multi-point marvin and pella doors, interior flush pulls, exterior hardware and more.? Look for future entries on the lever that is being designed and the turned rosettes that will be on the 2nd and 3rd floors on this project.
Lock Detail
This is a detail photo of 2 rabbit type locks for the doors that were referred to in the previous post.? These locks are also available new - be sure to contact www.wilmettehardware.com for more information.
Cremone Detail
This is a typical French type installation of a cremone bolt.? They often were used to hold the inactive door closed and the active door was operated by a lever.? This especially works well on a rabbited door system.? Consider using resources such as old books and photos when planning your project.
More Cremone Hardware
These are newly fabricated cremones that were installed in Virginia.? The finish is butler silver.? Architects and designers seem to have re-discovered silver plated hardware.? Silver was a very popular finish in fine homes around the turn of the century and typically was reserved for special spaces such as a living room or formal entry.? We have seen entire 1st floors done in silver as well.
Cremone Hardware Restoration
These cremone bolts were restored on a local home in a polished brass finish.? This type of hardware often was disposed of over the years. This hardware can always be repaired or restored.? Even when there are missing parts don’t panic for they can be cast and machined to replicate the original.
Tudor Entry Hardware
This entry set was made by Wilmette Hardware.? This piece is cast from both solid bronze and solid nickel.? Much of the old Tudor hardware that we find was manufactured with nickel (and not just nickel plated).? This has become more expensive to do with the raw material being about $24.00 per pound vs. $4.00 per pound just 3 years ago.
Y&T Custom Hardware
This is a plate and knob that we made using the lost wax method of casting on a local project.? All of the finishing was completed by hand for over 100 interior doors that were made of walnut.? The rich bronze finish complemented wood of both the hardware and other mill-work details of the home.
knurled knob

This is a knurled knob for a project in New York.? The knurling detail is done using a tool especially for this knob.? The knob is turned from solid brass and will be finished in polished un-lacquered brass.
